An Exhibition of Poetry by Kevin Dwan

4th July - 1st August

Kevin is a well known and respected spoken word artist in Dublin city. He has performed in many venues and festivals in Ireland over the last few years. His exhibition, "Twenty 7' brings together the choice pieces of his work into a single living thing. His vision, that the audience can walk through his book, and get a higher sense of the dual and deeper meaning of his work. For him the 7 represents the beginning and ending of cycles, the separation of the poles of conditioned reality. The number 7 is the seeker, the thinker, the searcher of Truth. The 7 doesn't take anything at face value, it is always trying to understand the underlying, hidden truths. The 7 knows that nothing is exactly as it seems and that reality is often hidden behind illusions.

Homework By Kevin Dwan (from Twenty 7)

Can I call this now my lessons learnt?

The wisdom gained from truth.

Can I bring these tomes I learnt from you,

And show them to the youth?

Who walked undamaged years ago,

Whose future lay unmarked.

Who dreamt of wondrous paths ahead

Yet to be embarked.

From a future place I plead out my warning,

But to fall upon deaf ears.

For there are some lessons that can't be taught,

Only learned through tears and tears.
