LOSE MY BREATH

AN EXHIBITION OF SOLO WORK BY

ORLA MEEGAN GALLAGHER

IONTAS ARTS CENTRE

NOV 1st  - JAN 21st  2020

Orlagh explores through her work the mesmerising draw of water, with fluid reflections, distortions and intensity of colour all playing out on the canvas reflecting the artist’s own inner life. Regret Will Come creates soundscapes using vocals, guitar, synth and drum machine, both in response to Orlagh’s artwork and to his own personal interpretation of the theme, which in turn inspires Orlagh’s work...Like water itself the project is utterly fluid, the result, a visual and audio collaboration.

(Bring earphones and ask at the desk for spotify link to soundscape to experience the art and sound together)

Orlagh Meegan-Gallagher graduated from NCAD in 1987. She then worked in theatre and film for 7 years and completed a post graduate in Art Education in 1995. She has exhibited her work in both Dublin and London and her work is in private collections in Ireland, England, Portugal, France and New York and in public collections with Airtricity and Carrickmacross Workhouse  where she was artist in Residence for 4 years, creating a body of work funded by Monaghan County Council and the International Fund for Ireland. Orlagh has also been heavily involved in community art projects and believes strongly in sharing her passion for the arts. Concept is a very important element in her practice and her work is imbued with layers of meaning expressed through her use of theme, colour, and use of materials.

"A catch-all Bandcamp postcard of a solitary bedroom life unlived in the vein of early (Sandy) Alex G, the album invites you to live inside it, just for a bit"  The Thin Air
