FROM JIGS TO JACOBITES
MICK MCCABE
ÍONTAS ARTS CENTRE, CASTLEBLAYNEY
Fri 5th October – Thurs 29th November
Jigs to Jacobites is a stunning collection of illustrations by Mick McCabe from his brand new hot-off-the-press book of the same name, co-authored with Orfhlaith Ni Bhrian.
Jigs of Jacobites - exhibited for the first time at Tradoodle Festival - explores 4000 years of Irish history through the lens of 40 traditional set dances. From the ancient Tuatha Dé Danann,to Bonnie Prince Charlie, to 1916, this exhibition presents these set dances in a new context.
The illustrator, Mick McCabe is a traditional flute player and graphic designer resident in Dublin. Before moving to Ireland, Mick lived near Manchester and has Monaghan and Cavan roots through his parents from Carrickmacross and Kingscourt. Mick is delighted to present this exhibition of his illustrations on home turf.
Live demonstration: Íontas Gallery space, Sunday 14th October from 12pm
