RETROGRADE

Friday 30th September - Thursday 10th November

DAMIEN MAGEE

Since graduating from art school in Belfast in 1998, Damien has been developing a multidisciplinary practice that traverses painting, drawing, photography, collage, sculpture and installation.  His projects have tended to be long-term, serial and developmental, with meaning emerging as an organic part of creative process.

The pieces exhibited at Iontas are examples of work that employ visual strategies that were explored repetitively and accumulatively over an extended period.

Compelled by a desire to find hidden meaning in the everyday, issues of space, place, time, isolation, fragility and loss recur.  All of which allude to the complex relationship between environment, memory and identity.
