ANJA NOHLEN
Anja creates her pieces from fabric left-overs and textile samples considered rubbish. Her works are a reflection on real every-day life experiences of making do within limitations, repetition, sequence and pattern versus irritation, mismatch and clash, which seen from a different level or from a distance integrate into coherence, a whole Gestalt.
The artist finds inspiration in science and nature, in abstract concepts and in phenomena, sometimes resulting in planned thoughtfully constructed pieces and at other times in pieces based on a fusion of deliberation and chance. Anja's work is influenced by early 20th century Expressionism in its use of bold colours and constructing principles.
